having to sleep shoulder-to-shoulder in overcrowded shelters, praying they make it to morning.
Stand in food bank lines with their kids, hoping there’s still something left when they get to the front.
Dying quietly without the healthcare that could have saved them because “the budget,” said no.
All while the confetti falls, the champagne glasses clink, and you’re smiling for the cameras pretending you can’t smell what’s rotting right under your nose; in addition to worrying about what goes on in other countries!
Power Hoarding Public Service
- The oath they took turns into a shield, not for the people, but for their own power.
Decisions stop being about solutions and start being about self-preservation.
Mid-Cycle Redistricting – Cheating, Just Legalized
- Every line moved, boundary shifted, & neighborhood split in half, it’s all strategy. Protect the incumbents who already hold the power. Silence the voices that are starting to get too loud. Dilute the votes that don’t swing their way.
The Great Deflection
- Leadership is not a buffet; you don’t get to pick the wins and dump the losses on somebody else’s plate. And if you think blaming the ghost of the last guy is going to distract us forever, I’ve got news: We see you. We saw the pen. And we remember exactly whose signature is on the mess. Own it!
The Patriot Cloak
- They’ll pass laws that police your body, your books, your vote, and your voice all while smiling and telling you it’s for “the greater good.” This is not patriotism. It’s possession. Furthermore, the flag they’re waving, it’s not covering the people it’s covering their own power plays.
If you’re in charge, then be in charge not just for the ribbon cuttings and the photo ops, but for the tough days, the bad calls, & the plans that went sideways. That means owning the victories and the failures. It means showing up even when the headlines aren’t flattering.
